There could be many things happening with the stray.
1) Is your female cat fixed? And, is the stray a male? Could it be that the stray wants to get it on with your cat?
2) I have a kitty that originally was a stray. He likes to occasionally jump the other cats and even tries to jump the dog sometimes. I find that it is purely a playing tactic.
3) Could be that the stray wants to become a part of your household. He is beating your kitty up because he is jealous.
I like the water gun. I use a spray bottle when my kitty gets frisky and it works really, really well. Don’t use the pellet gun. You will kill the stray and as long as your kitty is not all scabbed up and the stray does not have feline leukemia there is no harm.

Try the old bait in the cage trick, but your cats shouldn’t be allowed to go outside for 5 minutes anyways. It is dangerous.

Do not try to catch this cat on your own. If it’s been attacking your cat it’s likely to attack you as well. I would suggest buying a water gun. Whenever this cat approaches your home or cat send a few squirts of water it’s way. You won’t hurt the cat but it should go away after you do that a few times.

Buy a pellet gun.

Call animal control instead of the humane society. They have more of a responsibility to deal with it.

A good BB gun will do the trick. It won’t kill it but, will sting it pretty good where it will avoid your house.

I don’t think a water gun will work very well when the cat is in the middle of the fight. A garden hose immersing him is more likely. There are (humane) cat detergents you can get online, one is a system that turns on water in so much of a distance when there is motion. This way, if it happens often enough, the stray will hopefully get the point, and you can turn the system off and have a hose in hand for when your cat is outdoors. Also fox urine (which will wash away with rain or water hose, so you have to reapply). You can also get your cat an outdoor/indoor cat playplace/pen.
If the cat still comes around, or you still want to try to catch it,
you can try to lure it into a type of fish net kind of like what catchers use (make sure the holes are small enough and tough enough so the cat won’t get loose. Then take it to the shelter in the next city or 2 over. Do not touch it or get too close. Have a chicken feed sack from the farm goods store or have someone keep it in the net and put it in a cage or carrier. If you put this cat in the shelter in the same city, and someone adopts it, it may come back, especially if someone’s feeding it, so my advice is take it to Another city to a no-kill facility.

I like the water gun or big squirt bottle – do this repeatedly for several days and cats are smart enough to know when to leave for good.
I also agree that the animal control has more responsibility in catching this cat. Tell them the way it is attacking other animals can lead to a possibiility of it having rabies. That should take care of that.

We had a nasty cat in our neighborhood and when we sprayed him with habanero juice when he came close to our wall, he went away.

to catch it you could put food out and gain its trust then put food in a pet carrier lock it and take it to the humane society

Did the Humain society tell you, you can rent a trap from them for $30.00 to catch this cat? You should call them back and ask them. Before you catch him or her go on-line and search under no kill shelters that take feral cats to see if they will take him or her. The main thing is not to leave the cat in the trap to long.

don’t try to catch the cat on your own. it seems to me that it is not friendly. call animal control. but if they don’t gelp you either trick the cat with milk in a cage. and also dont’ let your cat out if it is in danger of getting hurt. my cats fight all the time but with a stray it may get uuuuuuugggggggggggly
