How do you teach a dog to play professional frisbee or agility?

♥ Cute T ♥ asked:

My dog is 3 year old, male border collie. He loves playing with his frisbee and is very energetic. He's very good at fetching, a big requirement for frisbee, what else does he need to know if anything? How can I get him to behave in public? At home, he behaves fine, but in public, he goes berserk, I'm afriad that he'd run away if I took him to play frisbee, and you cna't play frisbee or do agility with a leash on either.

  1. You really need to take him to a good obedience or agility training class where he will learn to work with you no matter what else is going on — it is not too late and he is not too old.

Needs socializeing. My best recomendation is to join an area agility/obediance club and take him to classes. He will learn to work steady around other dogs and enjoy the experienc. Very smart breed. As you progress in your training skills move on to agility classes. The others can tell you where to go to test his skills in matches befor you get to the big competitions. You are going to have a BLAST!
Take it slow and enjoy the lesser classes leading up to the goal. You will gain trust and esperience at the same time and go on to greater fun and games.

  3. Search for a local agility/flyball club in your area. They have indoor courses to help you train your pup and he doesn’t need to compete outdoor until he is ready.
