This happens sometimes when the kitten was weaned too early (it's best to leave kittens with their mother until they are at least 12 weeks old) . I had a cat that used to try to suckle from my dog , I would say a firm NO and remove the cat eventually he got the idea. It in no way means your younger cat has severe mental issues , just weaned too early. I can't really see putting anything on your male cat to deter the younger one because the male would just clean it off , and it might cause grooming problems with your male.

they usealy do this when they are taken of the mother to soon , the only way to stop it is to push it away if the cat is'nt pushing it away then every time it goes to do it you will have to pick it up and take it away from the cat other wise it will always do it. I have one thats three years old and still trys to suck it's like she nows she wants to suck but she does'nt remeber how.

You do have a problem. When we wean our new siamese kittens we dab so food on the nose for a while, they lick it off then learn that the food comes from there. Does your female cat eat from a bowl? If she doesnt u'll have to do the whole weaning the all over again! Put orange on the males nipples, cats hate orange.....
